Bloop
Soft drink can design
AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2023
Programs used
Illustrator, Photoshop, Dimensions
Project Description
This is a project done in the context of my packaging class in the graphic and web design program. The goal was to design the can for three different flavors of a drink.
I decided to play with the idea of bubbles and sea animals. The bright colors and cute animal designs draw attention and make the consumer associate the product with fun and bubbliness.
This was the first time I used Dimensions to create a 3D mock-up. This allowed me to visualize the final product with the label and see if it looked as good as the flat version.
While making this I realized how much I like using bright, energetic colors. This is one of the most fun colour palettes to work with.
Process
After choosing my favourite idea from the brainstorm, I sketched out different sea animals and chose the three that looked best.
I found my color palette by combining ones I found online. I usually use Coolors but also adobe color and plain old google images.
I used photoshop to draw the animal and then assembled each label in Illustrator. I used Fanta drinks as references for the ingredients list and the nutritional table. I also looked at a Pepsi can in real life to see what kind of information can be found on drink labels.
To finish off, I used Dimensions to create mock-ups and then imported them to photoshop to add the text and background.
